This piece is made from a section of 200 year old Elm, a tree once common across the landscape of Europe.

Decimated by Dutch Elm Disease, its numbers have dwindled, leaving only a hand full of places in Britain where mature specimens still survive.

Though Elm wood of this size is fast becoming a remnant of an arboreal past, several hundred years from now, these majestic trees will recover to thrive as forest once again.
